Cloud Eye Service (CES) – monitor resources in the Orange Cloud Business system
Collect statistics derived using monitoring metrics from different dimensions for resources to help users monitor resource changes
A major Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) that allows users to create, modify, delete, enable, and disable alarm rules for monitoring metrics on the management console. The configuration of alarm rules and notifications enable users to learn the running status and performance of monitored objects of each service, helping users obtain every resource changes to prevent business loss due to resource problems.
CES monitors metrics related to Elastic Cloud Server (ECS), Elastic Volume Service (EVS), Elastic Load Balance (ELB), Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Auto Scaling (AS), and Relational Database Service (RDS).
Cloud Eye (CES) provides users with the following functions:
Automatic monitoring
The system automatically starts monitoring based on the resources obtained.
- After resources are obtained, users can view monitoring data for the monitored objects on the CES console.
- After generating raw data, users can export it within two days.
Flexible alarm function
Users can flexibly set alarm rules on any of the monitoring metrics, configure alarm thresholds, as well as enable or disable the alarm function.
- When adding an alarm rule, users can select multiple monitored objects for a single metric to add monitored objects in batches
- Users can modify the parameters of the alarm rule, such as the alarm threshold. The modified alarm rule will take effect at the start of the next monitoring period.
- If the monitored object of the alarm rule is not used temporarily, users can disable the alarm rule, and then enable the alarm rule if the object is used again.
- If the monitored object of the alarm rule is no longer used or has been deleted, users can manually delete the alarm rule.
Real-time notification
Users can configure alarm notification to receive emails when alarms are generated.
- If the alarm status is changed, for example, when an alarm is generated, if the data becomes insufficient (beyond the validity), or if the alarm is cleared, the system sends emails to the email box configured when users register on the website.
- If an alarm is not cleared for a long period of time, the system only sends a notification to users when the alarm was generated.
Following metrics
On the Dashboard page of the CES console, users can follow a metric of a monitored object or delete a followed metric. After following a metric, users can view monitoring data concerning it each time users log in to the CES console.

Effective monitoring
CES provides sample monitored indexes, provides timely and effective resource information monitoring alarms, and sends notifications immediately after they are triggered. Also, the sample monitoring report is downloadable from the CES console and the monitoring data are only held by CES for 2 days, then the original monitoring data will be deleted.

Alarm notification
After users enable this function, if the alarm status is changed, for example, when an alarm is generated, if the data is insufficient to determine the alarm status, or if the alarm is cleared, the system sends mails to users to notify the changes.
Capacity adjustment
After configuring an alarm rule for a monitoring metric, users can promptly learn the running status of the monitored object and consider capacity expansion when they receive insufficient resource alarms.
